Yes, why should you actually care about your 2 sit bones?
We already saw in another post ( ischial tuberosities, rocking us to poise ) a photo of the sit bones, as the lowest parts of the pelvis.
We want to care about what they are, and how they fit in the whole system, our body itself and the place we sit on. This in order to make the best use of them. Because making the best use of ourselves is our goal with the Alexander technique.
Today, i am linking our best use to the idea of mechanical advantage. There is much more to the use of our sit bones; that will be for other posts or in class.
For the same reason why we don’t want to resist gravity, we DO want to find ourselves at our best mechanical advantage.
In this photo, we can see that Machin (it is time that I introduce you to Machin, my new addition to GGP Alexander Studio in Jericho, Vermont) is in a position of mechanical advantage, as far as the use of his sit bones, scientifically named ischial tuberosities !
